I am just very happy I managed to do this! My posts were late, but their composition was mostly on time. A whole month of writing and what have I learned?
Namely this:
Posting every single day SUUUUCKS!
The actual writing has been a pleasure through and through. The moments where I wrote my words down, edited them, made them feel extra-special and representative of my interests – that has all been very freeing!
But the pressure of deadlines, the tedious admin of editing my newsletter template, the sense of constant outreach to an audience that doesn’t exist yet, that I must myself create, has tired me out.
I’ll definitely be taking a break of a couple of days before getting back to anything. The truth is I know I am more committed to work that takes time, to careful consideration and weighing of every word.
That’s the thing. All this process has done is strengthen my resolve on what I want to make: considered writing. Incisive and original essays, prose that is deliberate and expansive and stretches me to my limits.
After a month of ‘that’ll do’, I need years of ‘this has to be good.’
